Papermaking
The paper mill is not just a museum but a living workshop where we make fine paper. Papers are made here for bookbinders, restorers and artists.
Each sheet of paper is made using traditional hand mould technology. The pulp is gained by processing cotton, hemp and linen rags. This process was the basic principle of paper making in Europe from the Middle Ages until the dawn of the 20. century.
Most of our paper products are made for individual customers (artists, book restorers), but some types are also available in our shop.

Rag paper
Our rag papers are made exclusively from textile, tailor-made scraps (flax, hemp, cotton) using traditional papermaking technology. Our products are available to anyone and can be adjusted to individual orders. We highly recommend them to bookbinders and paper restorers.

Hemp paper
Our Asian-style direct papers, according to this their ancient tradition, are made after processing hemp fibre. We cut, soak, hull, boil and fluff the hemp ourselves. The pruduct is available to anyone. We recommend them to lovers of special, unique papers, they can be used for intaglio and gravure printing, graphic design and knitting.

Good to know
- We also prepare fibre for restoration purposes at the desired grind.
- The building of the mill gives space for other workshops related to artistic use of paper: silkscreen, intaglio and lithography.
- We also have a binding workshop on the top floor.
